The Windmill presents:
Lou Terry, Wonderbug, Peak Trading
Entry Requirements: 18+
Lou Terry is a South London-based musician, genre-mangler, and software builder and in our minds one of the city's most under-appreciated artists. Things look like amended though with the radio support for his Warmly, Alexandria EP released last month on The state51 Label and forthcoming dates in May supporting Black Country, New Road.
With his excellent band, the live set fuses strange technology with timeless songwriting
"Dubbed a collection of “folk songs”, Warmly, Alexandria, certainly stretches the limits of Lou Terry’s modest description. A juxtaposition between digital and organic, synthesised and natural, runs through the EP like a message in a stick of Brighton rock. Irregularities litter each song, like drum machines, or the chattering feedback on 'Yellow Top', or the cello in ‘Tiptoe’. The bedroom pop atmosphere - warm production, compact arrangements - is disrupted by the strange sonic protuberances." - ROUGH TRADE
Wonderbug is a grungey indie rock band with a magnetic sound steeped in powerful lyrical semantics.
Having grown up together in the heart of the London music scene, Wonderbug feel less like an aggregation and more like an entity. You can feel this in their music. They are creatively synchronised and display a tangible closeness in their performance which ripples into their melodies
''Wonderbug's music is an invitation for intimacy. It moves to one side of the pavement so you can skip beside it, hand in hand'’ - Hard of Hearing
Breaking the Thames barrier since 2022, Peak Trading have been officially summoned to disrupt all things that are good and holy once again. Feelings of loathing and self doubt mandatory.
