COLD FINS
Cold Fins is the new title for London-based Paris Thompson and Manchester based Daniel McMillan’s indie pop project. Picking up where they left off with the Manchester-based 3-piece The Collected Fictions, Cold Fins draws on the work of cult 80s pop bands as sources of inspiration. (the Go-Betweens, Felt, Pale Fountains) without ever sounding like an overt pastiche. Self-recorded in a shed in southern France, Venus is marked by slicker production than past releases. Seductive hooks are accompanied by Marr-esque layered guitar tracks, melodic bass lines and shimmering synths.
