Retrospectacular presents:
Retrospectacular Detox - GBV/Pumpkins/Elliott/Radiohead covers
Entry Requirements: 18+
Retrospectacular was once London's leading night for parties celebrating the 90s alternative scene and although they've officially ceased activities they couldn't resist a one-off weekday s[ecial top celebrate the anniversary of some important albums.
Band Of Pricks as Guided By Voices
Mashing Pumpkins as Smashing Pumpkins
Matt McKee as Elliott Smith
Lee Childs performing songs from OK Computer by Radiohead
Topping the bill will be the UK's #1 GUIDED BY VOICES tribute act Band Of Pricks. They have been endorsed by the band themselves, played the two official launch parties for GBV's last two records in London, and even been asked by Stewart Lee to play at his 50th birthday party. He might have been joking, I mean that is his job, but they will be sending a reminder email off to Stew presently. Award winning actor / director Paddy Considine sometimes guests on vocals. He is unlikely to be present at this show, but, you never know... expect 20-odd GBV smash hits in an hour of power.
It will be 24 years to the day since alt-grunge classic Siamese Dream was released, and four restless thirtysomethings from South London have formed as Mashing Pumpkins to mark the occasion. Joe (Billy), Dee (D'arcy), Pete (James) and Dan (Jimmy) will rip through a set featuring songs from the first three SMASHING PUMPKINS records, with the set mainly comprised of songs from Siamese Dream.
Matt McKee is simply one of the best solo artists in London. He will be performing a selection of his own work and that of one of his main inspirations, the late great ELLIOTT SMITH. Check him out at https://mattmckee.bandcamp.com/
Opening the show will be Lee Childs, frontman of Perfect Flaws, performing a selection of songs from OK Computer, in its 20th year of release.
