EuroHeedfest VII - The 7th annual European Guided By Voices fan convention + Official UK release party for new GBV album 'August by Cake'

We're back again for the 7th time. It's the annual European Guided By Voices all day extravaganza EuroHeedfest - and this year it's official! On April 7th 2017, Guided By Voices release 'August by Cake', Robert Pollard's 100th record, a 70 minute long double album of already classic new GBV tunes, and we are the official UK release party for the album! As part of the proceedings, we will be playing the album over the speakers at the venue, as well as having a special 'August by Cake' room, with a copy of the album in a portable stereo for listening to individual tracks; and maybe even some free cake to eat while doing so. In past years we have had fans travel from Ireland; Scandinavia; various countries in continental Europe; the USA; Canada; and even Australia in order to be at EuroHeedfest. Come and join the party!

THE PROGRAMME:

  • The UK's #1 GBV cover band Band Of Pricks performing a 90 minute set of the band's biggest hits in their full 5-piece form.
  • A live band karaoke set, where YOU are Robert Pollard (or Tobin Sprout!). To celebrate the 25th aniversary of 'Propeller', and the 20th anniversary of 'Mag Earwhig!', the live karaoke set this year will be made up of both albums played in full. See below for details of how to sign up to sing a song!
  • DR3 play a short sharp set of mainly GBV EP bangers!
  • South London alternative heroes and massive GBV fans Dignan Porch making a special guest appearance playing some of their favourite GBV and related tunes.
  • GB3 performing some of the rarest cuts known (and perhaps even not known) to the GBV community.
  • An acoustic marathon where anyone can sign up to play a couple of songs of their choice with an electro-acoustic guitar.
  • A free BBQ with all sorts of food at no extra cost to the ticket price .
  • DJs playing some mega GBV and similar sounding stuff after the bands finish until the early hours.
  • Special appearances; prizes; unexpected stuff; and so on.
  • Oh, and beer. Lots of beer.
