Dan Lyons + Great Silkie + Flame Proof Moth + Honey Hahs
Entry Requirements: 18+
DAN LYONS
Dan Lyons is a musician living and writing in Margate. Perhaps better known as the erstwhile drummer for Fat White Family and Phobophobes, his real job is a songwriter. He was born in Kent and moved back from London last year with his (romantic & musical) partner Freya Warsi to escape the noise and pollution of city life. 2017 saw Dan finally stepping onto centre stage; performing under his own name and calling upon a host of musicians from the South London music scene and beyond to complete the line up for his backing band.
His debut single ‘Big Moon’ (produced by Chris Hayden) was released on his family record label “Shaker Records’ in February. Dan and his band have just returned from America, having played in L.A and at SXSW Festival in Austin. His second single, ‘Gargoyle’ is due for release mid June, again on Shaker, followed by a string of dates in the UK and France.
The songs written to appear on Dan’s debut album were mostly done so between Paris and London during a long, difficult summer crowded with loss and intrepid soul searching. They paint a picture of city life, a keyhole glimpse into an intricate and fragile heart. Echoes of Echo & The Bunnymen and ‘Rubber Soul’ era Beatles entwine with lo-fi sensibilities that nod towards The Go Betweens, Syd Barrett and The Clean.
