FEAR OF THE FOREST

... the UK's leading (and perhaps only) dulcimercore band - released their new album 'Fairy Tale Ending' in November 2016; a collection of dark folk stories, ancient myths, modern horrors, grim but true family histories and the strange tales of Kate Arnold's half-gypsy grandmother.

THE 286

A seven piece band from London, The 286 dare to cross the genres of indie rock and classical music. By clashing rock & roll riffs with cellos and violins, The 286 create a unique sound that you expect from a musical collaboration between The Beatles and Beethoven.

HURTLING Jen Macro from My Bloody Valentine, The Hood Rats etc plus the men of Smallgang give it some.

*Fear of the Forest - the UK's leading (and perhaps only) dulcimercore band - released their new album 'Fairy Tale Ending' in November 2016; a collection of dark folk stories, ancient myths, modern horrors, grim but true family histories and the strange tales of Kate Arnold's half-gypsy grandmother. * Formed in London in 2012 and fronted by Kate on hammered dulcimer, violin and vocals, the band combines influences from English and French folk, Middle Eastern and even classical musics to create a sound that has been described as 'punk baroque'.

Minor keys, medieval harmonies and irregular yet insistent rhythms are defining features, with the underlying energy of the percussion offset by the hypnotic, mysterious qualities of the dulcimer and vocal textures that range from the raw to the ethereal.

Kate has worked with Lisa Knapp, Doudou Cissoko and Daemonia Nymphe, and was previously a member of Sergeant Buzfuz, and Paul Hawkins and the Awkward Silences.

Other members of Fear of the Forest are: Jon Clayton (Chris T-T and the Hoodrats, Mystery Fax Machine Orchestra) on cello, bass and engineering; Mark Stefanicki (On Bouge, Ocrastra, Medicine Sunday) on hurdy-gurdy; Elizabeth Nott (Khyam Allami, Magic Tombolinos, Amira Kheir, Maya Youssef, Karama) on dafs, bendirs (large Middle Eastern frame drums) and other percussion; Chris Cornetto on cajon, more other percussion, and occasional distant trumpets.
