First ever London show for Ross Smithwick from Lonely the brave's new solo project.
'An immediate hit, a sugar-sweet combination of tight hooks and soaring choruses' - Kerrang!
'Smithwick's been hiding a spark in there somewhere, maybe now's the time to get it alight' - Punktastic
Scottish-born Katie Malco writes music that sits quietly somewhere between an aching, serene sadness and a hopeful determination. Somewhere between morbid and elevating. She mourns her past and lays it out on the table for all to see, exposed with twitching nerves.
Armed with only an old telecaster that's seen better days, a piano - any piano - and her voice, Malco has toured the UK and mainland Europe extensively, both solo and with a super-group live band of ex-Reuben / Tubelord / Tellison members.
"Talent is her middle name." BBC Introducing "Katie Malco has one of those voices that always transfixes." GoldFlakePaint "Detailing loss, anger, hope, despair and absolute joy - a piano, a voice and the most vital honesty laid down in song this year.” 405
Katie Malco comes from Fife in Scotland, now residing in London. Having toured the UK and Europe extensively, both solo and with super group live band of ex-Reuben and Hold Your Horse Is members, Malco will be recording her debut album in 2014. She released the 'Katie Malco & The Slow Parade' EP on Alcopop Records at the end of 2011, produced by Iain Archer of such fame as Snow Patrol and featuring a studio band of Tubelord and PINS members.
"An undeniably pretty voice...." - Rocksound
"Katie Malco has updated folklore for a modern audience." - Punktastic
Future Lives is a solo project from Ross Smithwick of Lonely The Brave. Having spent much of the last year writing and recording enough material for a debut album, along with putting together a live band its time to start sharing it with the world.
