TRASH KIT
Here's three girls that sound as joyful as they are focussed - and
their self-titled debut album (coming soon through the awesome Upset The Rhythm label) is one of the freshest things we've heard in a long time.
A gang of facepainted flag-bearers with a wild feel for melody and a heartfelt kick inside each song they mix chaos, considered songcraft and overlapping harmonies in equal measure. Rachel
Aggs, Rachel Horwood and Ros Murray formed the band early 2009, and have been lighting up London ever since with a sound that's both urbane and primal, with bags of punk potential and the naturalism of an internal folk music. Trash Kit’s music is full of pauses, flips and punctuation!
Fresh from supporting Vivian Girls in January, their debut album is out CD out soon.

I, Ludicrous’ ‘We’re The Support Band’ SINGLE LAUNCH!

*I, Ludicrous
*The Nuns
*The Good Gods
*The Kooler Kings
I, LUDICROUS
I, Ludicrous have possibly been 'the most original band in the world' since they formed in 1986. The band achieved immortality in 1987 when their seminal flexi release 'Preposterous Tales' reached the dizzy heights of number 11 in John Peel's Festive 50. This was followed up by the debut album 'It's Like Everything Else' which also found its way into the top ten of the indie charts.
Several releases have followed over the years and in 2007 major label recognition was won when a retrospective of the band 20 years in showbusiness was released on Sanctuary Records.
In February 2008 the 5 track CD 'Dirty Washing' was released to rave reviews. A tour with The Fall was arranged to promote the CD. In 2008 the band finally expanded the line up to a 3 piece when long time friend & fan Martin Brett joined the band on bass guitar.
The bands latest single release 'WE'RE THE SUPPORT BAND' has already received rave reviews & worldwide radio airplay. Procter, Hung & Brett plan to carry on releasing new material forever & are particularly looking foward to releasing regular singles from the comfort of their nursing home in 25 years time.
’I, Ludicrous are like Half Man Half Biscuit with a college education’ - NME
’I, Ludicrous are wry, funny, from a delightful corner of england, off the beaten track’ - Q Magazine
’I, Ludicrous are wonderfully silly’ - London Evening Standard
No one should die before hearing this legendary outfit’ - Time Out

Mon 8thODD BOX records presents:
*Tap Tap
*Air Waves
*The Cavalcade
*Ace Bushy Striptease
TAP TAP
Tom Sanders, lead singer of Tap Tap, spends most of his time fronting Pete And The Pirates but he also finds time to write and record these rather wonderful lo-fi psyche-pop songs as evidenced on the album 'On My Way', available now through Stolen Recordings.
'.. sings songs of youthful innocence and elemental woes over summer pop mini-pysch arrangements reminiscent of The Shins and Elephant 6 collective. Written in tour vans and hotels while touring with Pete and Pirates, On My Way suggests that if we keep Sanders unhappy and lonesome for the near future we might have a truly great British songwriter to cherish. It really is that good.' -MOJO Magazine
These songs seem forced into the world by a buckling, overcrowded brain. The popcraft exhibited is light enough and 'now' enough to reduce the listener to booster-mush on a first listen. 'Here Cometh' is an arch offering of Kinks blues, while 'Off the Beaten Track' imagines a bizarro Belle & Sebastian preoccupied with Kinks rock. Taming psychedelia and punk into sloppy/pristine DIY pop.' - PITCHFORK
www.myspace.com/taptapmusic

AIR WAVES (Brooklyn, NY)
When Pitchfork's Guest List asked Dan Deacon what his favourite new band is, his reply may sum up Nicole Schneit's of Air Waves music best, 'The music she writes is like a favourite blanket wrapped around you.'
The Brooklyn based songwriter first found solace in her guitar, composing escapist songs with fantastical stories and catchy choruses. Not wanting to be tagged as strictly a singer-songwriter and desiring a full-band sound, in 2007 Schneit teamed up with fellow Brooklynites taking on the name Air Waves. A medley of folk, rock, pop, and country, Air Waves serves up fantastic imagery with unforgettable melodies with named influences such as Neil Young, The Clean, and the Velvet Underground.
Their début self-titled EP (Catbird Records) features five songs, without a single misstep or wasted moment.
www.myspace.com/airwavesmusic

THE CAVALCADE
Hotly tipped indiepop trio from the North West of England, whose self-released EPs 'Meet You In The Rain' and 'For You' have been winning the band many fans on top of their fine live performances.
'While The Cavalcade have many of the same influences as The Clientele –Lou Reed’s bleak romantic ballads, particularly – they have a demonstrably stronger indiepop side to their aesthetic; Voices, for example, nods to Honeybunch’s Hey Blue Sky! while the EP as a whole suggests what Johnny Marr was doing in 1983-4' - Fire Escape Talking
www.myspace.com/thecavalcadeuk

ACE BUSHY STRIPTEASE
Kicking off proceedings will be the amazing Ace Bushy Striptease from Birmingham who are due to release *something* on Odd Box in 2010. They're one of those magical bands that are poppy, fun and original. They shout (sometimes). They sing (often). They have loud bits. They have quiet bits. And that's not to mention the fast bits. An exhilarating band that'll make you smile.

CHIMES & BELLS
New Danish signings on Bella Union Records!
The brainchild of 26 year old singer and cellist Cæcilie Trier, Chimes & Bells' music defies formal genre definitions, but contains elements of noise rock, art pop, shoegazer and r&b. Slow, brooding and circular song structures are seamlessly intertwined with dark, gleaming 'diamond-in-the-rough' pop melodies and climatic explosions of melodic noise rock.
Last year, Chimes & Bells had only done a handful of shows in their native Copenhagen before being invited to play Wireless festival in Hyde Park. They were snapped up by legendary UK label Bella Union (Fleet Foxes, Explosions In The Sky, Midlake etc) and have a much-anticipated album coming out later in the year.
This is the first time they've played club shows in the UK so come along and see what the fuss is about.

Supported by local legends 'Elks' they promise to provide a Wakey-style mash up of the highest order. The lineup is as follows:

ELKS (London)
Post-indie with a sense of atmosphere and fine melodrama. Elks have music available though The Great Outdoors and Unlabel.

WOLF PEOPLE (London)
The first British band ever to be signed up by the mega-impressive Jagjaguwar label (Bon Iver, Sunset Rubdown, Dinosaur Jr, Lightning Dust, Parts & Labor, Women etc etc) play a one-off show to celebrate the launch of their dark and frenzied album 'Tidings'.
An alchemistic compendium of English classic rock that has been doused in wine, 'Tidings' was actually recorded by their singer Jack Sharp before the band muscled up into a four-piece, so expect even more noise live on stage!
The tunes themselves are full of hissing guitars, distorted blues harmonica, acid rock, mystical flutes and crackling tape, often based on updated versions of classic blues structures and half-remembered English folk songs, reminiscent of Faust, early Mothers of Invention and, yep, Jethro Tull.

Ah yes, it's that band with the clever name that you wish you'd thought of using.
Day Month Year, as you could also call them, are nuts on record and even more looney when they get on stage. Notable inspiration comes from the works of Frank Zappa, Melt Banana, DADA art and video games and translates into a riot of drone chaos, razor postpunk, manic prog, spazz dance with a tune always lurking around somewhere in the noise riot.
Looking forward to this one quite a bit!
'Sirens roar, guitars burn their notes, drums scatter like cockroaches in light and a breakdown hammers home their discombobulating nature before launching into a riveting climax that ends with a calming plateau.' – exclaim!

BEN FOLKE THOMAS
Making a name for himself on the London scene, this transplanted Swede offers a broader portfolio of emotions than your average Americana guy, taking in the doom of Cohen, the blues of Johnson, Guthrie's folk and the indie flavour of contemporaries such as Josh Ritter.

LAURA VICTORIA
Pop meets trad folk via a voice and a cello.
Intense, edgy, light hearted, melodramatic and honest songs brought to life by unusual cello playing that veers between moving melancholy airs, punchy rock riffing and slap bass. Songs tell of love affairs, shipwrecks, imaginary worlds, (and cups of tea).
A recently arrived resident of south London, Laura has played many world/folk music festivals throughout Europe attracting attention for both her pop sensibilities and unique cello playing.
Her debut EP 'Acting Up' is out on April 12th through Cherry Red Records.
