JIM CLEMENTS & THE RIGHT TO DIE (Clapham via Canada)
With his Dylanesque flair for words, a touch of Randy Newman’s dark wit, a sprinkling of Nick Cave’s macabre romanticism, and a knack for story-telling that would give The Decemberists a run for their money, Jim Clements will appeal to anyone with a soft-spot for a literate songwriter.

DAWN LANDES (New York, NY)
Reminiscent of the raw traditionalism of Woody Guthrie and the experimental alt-folk lyricism of artists like Joanna Newsome, the Louisville KY native plays a variety of instruments (8-dollar guitars! pink accordions! glockenspiels! optigons!
Recent supports include the likes of Midlake, Jose Gonzalez, Suzanne Vega, Le Tigre, Andrew Bird, Feist, M83, Josh Ritter, Jane Siberry and Shannon Wright.
Dawn's second full-length album 'Fireproof' will be released Jan 2008 in Europe by Fargo Records

Sat 2ndLOUVANA
*Skeychbeat
*Masters of Disguise
*Stuffy & The Fuses
*Micachu
*Lee Westwood
*Adam Beattie & The Consultants
LOUVANA is back with three superb bands plus three equally fantastic acoustic acts. This is going to be an half-day extravaganza of great music starting from 6 o’clock.

SKETCHBEAT
With a fresh new EP just released and a mini England tour underway they will be stopping by the Windmill to headline this Louvana. A band that can undoubtedly put on a great show, they were voted one of the best four live bands of London recently.
Heroic funk nutters - Rocksound Magazine

MASTERS OF DISGUISE (Brixton)
Louvana’s hosts return. M.o.D who often gets described as psych-prog is one of south London’s most exciting and unusual bands that never play the same show twice.
www.myspace.com/mastersofdisguise

STUFFY & THE FUSES (Brixton)
Stuffy is a drummer. He's a rather good drummer. Both Graham Coxon and Charlotte Hatherley think so too. They have him in their bands.
But, when he's playing with the dynamic Fuses, Stuffy wheels the drumkit out to the front of stage and shouts and sings to his heart's content along to some jolly fine alterno-rock created by the three Fuses. Nice. Great new album out now as well!

MICACHU (London)
Mica is set to be a star this year, she's currently recording her debut album with Matthew Herbert and her first single is out soon on Herbert’s Accidental Records.

*Official Secrets Act
*Philadelphia Main Line
*The Kits
*Alphabet Backwards
BACKSTREETS is a semi-regular gig night curated by the good people at Rockbeatstone. We put on some of London's best little-known indie/rock music and with Rockbeatstone contributors on the decks, you can be sure that the evening will end in silliness.

OFFICIAL SECRETS ACT
Sometimes you come across a band and are immediately taken by their freshness, their exuberance and most importantly their musical spunk. The Official Secrets Act do this, imagine British Sea Power hooked up on sugar and playing with Maximo Park, this isn’t what this trio sounds like it, but you’d be getting close.
Foot-stomping bass lines, enigmatic performances, and songs so catchy, frankly it’s sickening. And it’s EXACTLY what we love to hear. ‘The Art of Being Sure’ recently featured on an Artrocker compilation, and is nothing sort of brilliant. If there’s a musical war going on, then these are the snipers, short, sharp and deadly....
www.myspace.com/officialsecretsact

PHILADELPHIA MAIN LINE (Hackney/Australia)
Signed to the good folks at BANG! Records, this two-piece features the talented Christian Muncey (whose brother happens to be in a little known Aussie band called JET!) on guitar and Matt Veal on drums. Together they have built an arsenal of sonic onslaughts that sound like the Black Keys handing their souls to the devil. A band that mixes the raw energy of the White Stripes to the ballsiest, bluesiest and dirtiest ballads that Tom Waits might conjure up after a particularly violent drinking session. Alternative music bible, The Stool Pigeon is a big fan stating that the band employ the most rudimentary of guitar lines to weave their Holy Golighty-ish R&B menace with a 13th Elevators spin. Great vocals and twangy blues guitar. Definitely a set that will get people talking.
www.myspace.com/philadelphiamainline

THE KITS (Melbourne)
All the way from Australia, The Kits are a wild celebration of 60's garage rock'n'roll. Simply put, they blow the roof off. The Kits feed off the sounds of the Von Bondies, the Stooges, BRMC, the Veils, Kings of Leon and Television, spitting out tales of crime, sex, excess and indulgence. They've shared the stage with the likes of Wolfmother, The Saints, Howling Bells and Diamond Nights.

ALPHABET BACKWARDS (Oxford)
A return to the Windmill and Backstreets because we loved them so much last time! Flirting between pop and rock, they play intelligent and melodic music without ever veering on the side of cheese and cannot fail to bring a smile to your face.

From 11pm:
CATTLEPROD CLUB
THUNDERCLAP NEWMAN (London)
Yep, that Thunderclap Newman! The ones that knocked Elvis off the top of the singles chart in 69 with the Pete Townshend-produced 'Something in the Air' - a timeless tune that's currently getting replayed again and again by Apple Mac.
Thunderclap Newman, featuring Andy ‘Thunderclap’ Newman, wants to acquaint the public with ‘Hollywood Dream’, the long lost classic album.
Mr Newman has gathered five other musicians of various nationalities and with different musical backgrounds, to celebrate the music of Thunderclap Newman and to honour the legacy of John ‘Speedy’ Keen and Jimmy McCulloch.
Songs written by Andy, Speedy and Jimmy after the original band went their separate ways will also be incorporated into the live set, alongside original material written by the current band members. This is a truly exciting project with many out-there musical possibilities waiting in the wings

GLORIA CYCLES (Brighton)
Ooooh...we're going all Brighton on you again, and for good reason too...not least because it's ace and it has a beach made of wood, but because it has some wonderful musicians pottering about. Gloria Cycles have something in common with The Go Betweens, in that they are within touching distance of perfect pop. OF COURSE there is The Sound Of Young Scotland in there, with Postcard’s holy trinity of Orange Juice, Aztec Camera and Josef K jostling for position. Confident, charismatic and somehow subdued but incredibly intense on stage, the band have also been compared to The Lovin Spoonful, The Magic Numbers and in some extremes The Velvet Underground.

were formed in Barnaul, a remote town in Southern Siberia, by brother and sister duo Yulia (vocals, lead guitar) and Dima (drums). Quickly after moving to London the band recruited Chris (rhythm guitar, backing vocals) and Rob (bass, backing vocals), the band developed Yulia's yearning pop songs of hope and escapism, coupling their Britpop influences with an intense, layered sound that recalls My Bloody Valentine, Chapterhouse or Mew.
